The Darkness Seven

The shiny blade calls out to me
It’s been so long I’d almost forgotten you see
It’s thin body so small and sharp
Begging for a taste of a body part
The chaos inside my head tonight
Brings back memories of fight or flight
I chose flight most times to keep the chaos at bay
So that maybe I’ll live to fight possibly another day
The memories bring with them a familiar scent
One for those with twisted minds seems heaven sent
Then the visual becomes clear
As beads of red upon pale skin appear
You think with each slice that will be the last
But chaos fools you bringing more horrible memories from the past
You slice and slice til the pain gains the lead
The monstrous chaos finally forced to concede
The thoughts stop racing
The heart at its normal pacings
The body calms breathing deep and steady
Reminding itself to be ever ready.
