The Darkness of Desire

While life dreams of satisfaction In muted shades of red and gold Jaded hearts burst with emotion And souls are bought and sold My memories hang in shadows Like stains on an ancient wall The silent screams can be heard As the moon begins to fade and fall A finger of somber discontent Jabs at an inflamed archaic pain Seeking the darkened passion That once nearly drove me insane In an everlasting capricious sleep Deep within the catacombs of my mind I search in vain for a final peace To which it seems, I’m blind How can one possibly desire That which hurts so much I pray in the darkness that he never sees Just how much I crave his touch
