The Darkness and the Light

I put a warm smile upon my face,
but it's chilled away by an icy wake.

I try humming a happy tune but it's
engulfed by the dark morning gloom.

Darkness crouches round like a scourging
abyss, yet held at bay seemingly waiting
to be chased away.

I focus my mind on the truth, a new day
awaits. The glorious sun rise before my
very eyes, it's illuminating radiant proof.

Day break with an amber tint tracing the
horizon. Here comes a glorious soul warming
glow, spirit filled and my hope is rising.
