?Apart from Lions who live in a pride most large cats only come together to mate. For most live alone for much of the time, the male visiting periodically as he does his rounds. Sometimes so over come by their passion they fail to notice approaching danger and get killed usually by lions.
The enticing smell called him ever onwards
tracking her scent, now knowing he was close.
She smelt oh so tempting as he drew nearer
all other thoughts now gone from his mind.
The desire to mate filled his very soul
tentatively he approached. Capricious she
slipped away then uttered a soft growl
encouraging him to again approach her.
For a while she teased him with her rolling
body, then turning on him as he tried to mate.
With frustration he persisted until at long last
she was ready. Joyously he joined with her.
When they parted she slashed him with her claws
then rolled again releasing new odours of her heat.
Again and again they joined up to 45 times a day,
for the next five days they repeatedly mated.
Then they both went their separate ways maybe
to never meet again as he was now just past
his prime. He might not still be primary male
his bloodline safely inside her, he was content.
