The Dance

Looking back
On the memory of
The dance we shared
'Neath the stars above
For a moment
All the world was right
But how could I have known
That you'd ever say goodbye
And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end
The way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd have had to miss the dance
Holding you
I held everything
For a moment
Wasn't I the king?
If I'd only known
How the king would fall
Hey, who's to say
You know I might have changed it all
And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end
The way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd have had to miss the dance
It's my life, it's better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd have had to miss the (dance)

Oh for the days when I used to dance under the stars. I saw your poem on YouTube and left an encouraging comment. We have to learn to accept the good and the bad. Lost love is always a favorite. Hugs.

Hello my friend, this is a poignant reflection on the fleeting nature of happiness and the acceptance of life's uncertainties. The imagery of dancing "beneath the stars above" evokes a sense of magic and euphoria, portraying a moment of perfect bliss. However, the poem quickly transitions into a contemplation of the inevitable goodbye, emphasizing the speaker's realization that they could not have foreseen the pain of parting.
