The Dalliance of Moon and Sun

The Solstice showed up early
left us in the dark
promised on the morrow
two more minutes in the park
he dances with the shadows
changing them from fat to thin
promises that every day
we’ll do the dance again
so spread your arms and celebrate
the dalliance of moon and sun
a romance that hasn’t ended
since the day it was begun
