The Crocus

Today a golden crocus blooms
Where, only yesterday,
Upon the slumbering garden bed,
A winter blanket lay.
                                             
A glowing message sent from God,
This smiling child of spring,
To brighten winter's dreary end,
And cause my heart to sing.
