The Creek
Like a mist on an either lake
I haunt you through the day
You twist from a dreary ache
As I taunt you from the shade
Anxious in your chest
A whisper in the distance
I crank up your unrest
As I linger in your existence
I’m the chill that’s in your bones
When you sit at home at night
That uneasy feeling your not alone
As I watch whilst out of sight
I lie in wait for you to sleep
Til’ when your least aware
Then it’s time for me to creep
As I creek upon each stair
My shadow drifts across the wall
A silhouette that claws the air
Distorted as it hits the hall
A freak that lifts your hair
Unconscious you don’t know this
What leaking through your door
I push it open, you won’t notice
As I sneak my way towards
I leer at your bedside
You shiver as it turns cold
Fear runs through your mind
Like an icy river through your soul
I scratch the dreams from your head
To revel in your nightmare
I latch onto the streams of all your dread
As I bathe in them whilst I stare
I stay until the light breaks
But in the shadows I do remain
I wait in lay for night to take
When I can Creek my way to you again.
