The Corner Store
Mommy, can we go to the corner store?
I’ve saved my allowance for two weeks.
I must have a hundred bucks, maybe more!
I want chocolates to fill my cheeks!
So, mommy, let’s go to the corner store!
Mommy, please take me to the corner store!
Don’t you need another pack of smokes?
They have blue slurpees galore
And I like the cups that have jokes.
C’mon mommy, to the corner store.
Mommy, did you read about the corner store?
They’ve made plans to tear it down!
We’d better go quick, before they lock the door!
Huh? Mommy, what’s wrong? Why the frown?
MOMMY GET UP! GET OFF THE FLOOR!
Oh look, there it is, the old corner store,
Where I used to go with my mom.
Strange that I can’t do that anymore.
I miss the taste of Blue Raspberry Bomb
I miss going with her to the corner store.
