The Contrasts Of Life

I am so blessed
I have lived such a life
Sure there's been bad times
Periods of trouble and strife

But why would I let these moments
So petty in the length of living
Fill up and torture my mind
When the rest of existence so giving

The places I've been
The things I have done
The love I've experienced
Under stars and bright sun

The things I've been gifted
The knowledge I've learnt
The people I've loved
Into my heart it's all burnt

Into a thing of beauty
A carving of art
Etched into my soul
And into my heart

But true art need contrast
The darkness in parts
To highlight the bright spots
Of the painting in our hearts

The challenges are what polish us from a dull rock into a shining gem.
