The Commander-in-Grief

Mostly, the president must hold a steady hand
But some events, a display of emotion demand

The sorrow and outrage that he does feel
The whole country could see was real

The leader of the land, it is true
But he’s also a loving parent too

“Our hearts are broken today,”
We all heard the president say

Little ones needlessly had to die
Some action, the president will try

The teachers he took care to commend
Some of whom, their lives did end

To the tragic town he’ll make a call
To show he’s president of us all
