The Coming Months of a Soldier

Assigned to leave for war,
to serve and defend, away from home.
Trained and proficient, in our abilities,
maintaining our arms, in a place, we roam.

Depend upon to make a difference,
to make right, from what is wrong.
Our minds set upon the mission,
together united, as army strong.

For as long, and by necessity,
day and night, without delay.
Determined and diligent, in our job,
believing there's a will, then there's a way.

Through these times never forgetting,
the dear soldier, whom we fought beside,
Whom paid the ultimate sacrifice,
upon doing their duty, when they died.

Soon looking forward, to saluting,
handing off, after a job well done.
Returning home to friends, and family,
upon our arrival, they then run.

Cheering, for they are joyful,
to have us there, brings them, extreme delight.
For they recognized us, as true heroes,
whom fought, with all of their might.
