The Coat of Many Colors

The coat of many colors
Was a story I was told
About a young boy named Joseph
Who for jealousy was sold
Into slavery by his brothers
And brought to a distant land
Where pyramids and idols stood
In a land of palms and sand
The years he spent were lonely ones
Away from Jacob’s tent
Not knowing it was in God’s plan
To Egypt he be sent
To save the whole world from a drought
And the famine that would be
And bring his family to the land
To fulfill the prophecy
Four hundred years the Israelites
Would serve on Egyptian soil
Until a man named Moses came
And freed them from their toil
Because of a coat of many colors
That Jacob gave his son
The freedom of God’s people
By faith was finally won
Now you may think that this tale
Ended thousands of years ago
But here’s one thing that I think
That all of you should know
You never know the purposes
God has in each our lives
He doesn’t tell us everything
And many things he hides
Until we go through the trial
We only see in part
When coming out the other side
It’s then we see God’s heart.
