The Clover

Lay me down in clover There I'll set my spirit free To bask in memories of my youth When life was still carefree Where dreams of old still hover With the bees and butterflies And days of long ago are etched in cloudless summer skies Let me smell the color green How cool against my skin While I hunt for a four leaf clover And all life has been Returning to the time and place Where innocence remains Discovering left laughter In spontaneous refrains Let me lay in clover There I'll rest my weary bones Upon the leaves and flowers Where my childhood dreams were strewn So once again I can relive The laughter and the fun To find the peace that's waiting there That beckons everyone. by Daniel Turner

Hello Daniel … lush clover normally means springtime when everything appears fresh and new. I really enjoyed the flow and rhyme - thanks Daniel - Lindsay

"Lay me down in clover, I'll set my spirit free" This is soothing and peaceful, all at the same time. To be surrounded by God's beauty, His creation, while lingering in deep thought. What a wonderful feeling. Your words caress gently around my heart. :) Brandy

A delightful poem, Danny! The older I get, the more I find myself reminiscing. My childhood was simple, and yet it brimmed with so many special memories! ~ Best regards, my friend // paul

Hi Daniel, What a well-written nostalgic write. It sounds like you had a great childhood. I enjoy memories of old because they transport us back to a time and place when life was good. When kids actually played outside. Thanks for penning such a write. Have a great day:-) Alexis

Splendid poem, Daniel - my kind of poetry. Sounds like languid summers in Indiana I cherished as a kid. Thanks for your kind comments re Gas Pains. Best to you as you continue your poetical journey - Bob H
