The Clock Ticks

The clock ticks
As you count the strokes
1…2…3…4
The time flees
From your mouth
And our togetherness
One by one
Are the seconds
Getting closer together?
Because I swear it’s been
A whole millennium
But you softly remind me
It’s only been a minute,
My love
