Loneliness is... the greatest pain of all. At its climax? Emptiness deeper than oceans. Abject hopelessness. One’s sanity becomes an unsteady balance scale tipping askew little by little. Silence suddenly begins to scream. Anxiety hisses like a snake and spits its venom. Desperation gives birth to panic. The lonely runs into every room, yelling... "Where did everyone go?" "Can anyone hear me?" Date written and posted: 01/05/2019

Living alone, I have encountered these lonely feelings on many occasions, Edward. There is a hopelessness that toys with the mind coupled with anxiety. Great writing! Congratulations on your win in Brian's contest! Hugs, Carolyn
