The Chase
Being just a kid of nineteen and under the influence of alcohol
He stole a car he had seen and this was the beginning of his fall
Driving reckless through the town thinking that it was really neat
And before the police took him down he hit a man crossing the street
And he kept right on going with the police in close pursuit behind
With the strip spikes glowing this treacherous ride came to a grind
Throwing him down on the ground as justice was now in sight
But even then they found that this young man still wanted to fight
The man who was crossing the street later ended up passing that day
So now these charges he couldn't beat as the judge then put him away
Eleven years is what he got but perhaps he has learned his lesson
Dedicating his release, a second shot, in the realizing of it's blessing
It didn't just happen at first in fact it took about eight of those years
Until he finally began to thirst in the knowing of several of his peers
They were a rough bunch too for all of these men have been around
But they all had something true, something that took a while to be found
