The Cavern Within

The Cavern Within

In a cavern so deep, no sound to be real
Peering into the darkness, fear so surreal
Curiosity somehow drives you to the unreal
First step into the abyss, of what may revile

Darkness envelopes, looking beyond the light
Each careful step, one slip, lost within a twilight
Exploring ever deeper, your eyes fighting for sight
Feeling the dampness, cold gripping with all might

Deep blackness, echoing each sound
Each droplet, some strange ultrasound
Unfamiliar fear gripping, so profound
Courage in you, hoping can be found

Ever so deep, the blackness within the slope
Your only lifeline, gripping a one and only rope
The further the depth, more you reach and grope
Where all of your courage and fears envelope
