The Card Hard To Find

THE CARD HARD TO FIND Rows and rows of cards there in stores I always find: Cards for someone’s birthday or sympathy so kind. Cards for all the holidays, cards for weddings, too, Cards to help encourage that someone feeling blue. But cards to tell a pastor how special he may be Seem absent from the storefront of everywhere I see. I looked for one to give you again this time of year, And once again the shortage brought once again a tear. Just eight, I think, were put there, and all with a short verse, Not from the King James Bible—and that just made it worse! So, though this card is simple, what it said I now say These are the ways you’re special to me for every day. Your prayers, your understanding, your friendship and your time Are not taken for granted, they oft come to my mind. Your wisdom and your hope, too, for everyone you see The faith you bravely show forth has been so real to me. No Bible verse is quoted, but many came to mind As all these special aspects in your life here I find. So, Pastor, may this message mean much to you today For all God’s doing through you in oh, so many ways! --Dedicated to Dr. Tracy Fowler, October, 2018
