The Candle Light

THE CANDLE LIGHT White is my heart Like this candle wax Pure and undefil’d In a love unrivall’d For Its wig set ‘light Boldly burning bright Side to side toss’d As the wax reduc’d From a hard solid To a running liquid. My heart melts ‘way Each moment I wait Makes a sad mood Of being without you And this wax sooner Will be burnt over. Thus my plea tonight Each other we find As this glows ‘round Before it burns out. In heaven there is Neither conjugal bliss Nor do the dead laid See in their dark grave Candle light burning From lovers grieving!
