The caged bird sings

The caged bird sings
For it feels the need to soar
It has this longing deep inside
That needs to be explored
It knows not of freedom
But instinctively wants to go
There up high to the heavens
To view the world below
It sees the lush green garden
The flowers and the leaves
It sees the hope of springtime
And the green blessing the trees
It feels the rush of flight
So deep within its soul
It sings with all its might
To express this love and hope
The caged bird sings
It sings each and every day
For it knows that one day soon
It will sing from far away
