THE CABIN IN THE WOODS
THE CABIN IN THE WOODS
Deep in the woods on a hot summer’s day,
where light dances through the trees,
slicing the air, a sublime ballet
of light inspired by a breeze.
Sultry, thick, musty, pine-scented air,
sweet ambrosia to my senses.
The trees are my tribe, consistent and safe,
unconstrained by family fences.
This grand oasis within itself
compels Eden’s garden to cry.
On the clearing’s edge, nestled in the brush,
a cabin with a creek nearby.
A makeshift shack, my labor’s reward,
my psyche’s favorite place to be.
When welcome is not where it should be found,
I’ve my paradise made for me.
