The Byes
The river Sid flows fast and free
At Sidmouth where it winds its way
Through ancient woodland to the sea.
A real gem all will agree,
Like Lakeland beck its waters gay,
The river Sid flows fast and free.
Its laughing waters sing with glee,
Flow crystal clear, transform my day,
Through ancient woodland to the sea.
Such unremitting energy
O'er rocks and pebbles, splash and spray,
The river Sid flows fast and free.
Here is a sylvan symphony,
Calm water music all the day
Through ancient woodland to the sea.
Across the footbridge, home for tea;
We leave before the sun's last ray
And still the Sid flows fast and free.
Through ancient woodland to the sea.
