The Bush Still Burns

THE BUSH STILL BURNS

I once walked in a desert, apart from God and right,
But God got my attention with a bush burning bright.
It burned and kept on burning, I stopped there just to see;
When God saw I was looking, He spoke out then to me.
I fell there in His presence upon that holy ground,
Salvation I accepted, forgiveness then I found.
And as through life I’ve traveled, that memory’s oft returned:
The place I met the Savior there where the bush had burned.
The fire has kept burning through storms and trials and strife;
Yes, even when I faltered and failed in my life.
And I have seen more bushes that kindle fires in me
To want to keep on living each day more faithfully.
The bush still burns so brightly, though I may turn away;
Its fire keeps on burning, yes even when I stray.
The power in His presence, the fire in His Word
Are bushes that keep burning, and His voice there is heard.
They call me to His service, they call me to more faith,
They call to separation, a holy life to make.
Lord, help me have desire to ever grow and learn
As I kneel in Your presence there while that bush still burns.
