The Burning

Heaven-tinted anger crawling underneath
Sucking up your feelings, delivering relief
Numbness for the freedom and the will to go
Carry on your treason, let the anger grow

Blood begins to boil deep inside the leaves
Your forest starts to burn, too deep for you to see
Further down the trail people need your hand
But you stay along the outside, despising their demands

Colourless pictures of the ones you scare
No more coloured paintings of times that made you care
Expression met the graveyard when you lost belief
Now you’re never going onwards, never finding peace

The separated memories of the day and night
The times you knew some truth have fallen far from sight
Your mistrust of every person breeds the same from them
It’s getting harder to remind you of the love that went

Heaven-scented people falling far away
Delivering you downwards, no memory of the day
A colourless existence turns your heart to dust
As the armour of your hatred is bleeding into rust

A demon-tainted purpose has taken all your time
There’s nothing left to hear, there’s nothing to remind
Your fire spreads beyond you, the forest turns to ash
The people that would save you have run away at last
