The Bottom of the Glass

The Bottom of the Glass
Where do we go when we need to escape?
Moving forward, who do we blame?
Sometimes we go to a place to hide.
From here on out we don’t let anyone inside.
 We live a lonely life.
While we leave the past behind.
 Apart from another,
There's no going back to your Lover.
 Tied down in chains,
Nothing will ever be the same.
 Darkness is my new home,
While I walk the streets at night alone.
 The nightmare will never end,
For I have nothing else to give.
Must I continue drowning in my own sin,
Maybe it’s all my fault, because I did not listen.
 The bottom of the glass,
Is just a drink running from the past.
Will I ever have a chance to start over new?
I looked up and maybe it will be you.
To give a stranger a second chance,
You are understanding, so maybe this will last.
The color of scotch is gleaming orange.
You took my hand and helped me move forward.
Even though the glass is empty,
Your face is beautiful in the sun looking towards me.
Holding onto the glass that takes me away,
Someone like you, can show me the way.
Your smile is radiant in the light,
This will be my last drink tonight.
Your eyes are like Amber in the sky,
 You were patient with me,
 Now I understand why.
I owe it all to you,
Your hair shines in the blue moon.
