The Book of Beelzebub

Forever, I lurk within shadowy wings Betraying my friends for the silver it brings Once I was the shepherd, 'n' leading the flock Now I am the warden, 'n' guarding the lock. Those who besmirch me, a'drown in the flood The sweat from your nightmares, sustaining my blood I, the creator of thousand-year rains And I am the master of all that remains. Unleashing a plague that none would believe Commanding my armies to rise from the seas For I am the Devil. Turn'd men into mice And I am the lord of both fire and ice. For I can be gentle, both charming and kind To those whom the reaper has sent me to find I am the 'darling' who hides in plain sight But I am the cold 'n' the darkness of night. The world is a crystal, the lines are unblurr'd The rapture, delay'd until I give the word I am the monster who smiles at your pain Yet I am the mercy to heal you again. Purveyor of sin and of poisonous wealth Who drank from the grail of Jesus himself I am the daemon who preys on the weak And I am the keeper of all that you seek.
