The Boogie Man

Shhhh, what's that noise? switch on a light.

I heard him, a bang, it went bump in the night.

Peer in the cupboard, out the window, over there,

look under that dusty old bed if you dare.

Quick, back under the covers, there's no need for alarm,

lets switch on our torches, they'll keep us from harm.

We did it, we're safe, there's was nothing to fear,

but who is that shadowy man drawing near?

I love this poem as like the other comments, it takes me back to my childhood and all those times I stayed over at my friends house, somehow I was always the one in the sleeping bag on the floor and the one who had to switch the light out, after we had been telling ghost stories!!! EEEEK!!! Thanks for your comments on my poem Pawlu, take care, Jo x

The noise and shadows in the night can be quite frightening to children. Your poem brings back memories, Pawlu. I like the way you toy with our imaginations. Good work! Love, Carolyn

The Boggie man! I'm smiling because I've been there often over the years...especially, long ago, when the radio came on downstairs and we were all upstairs. Whe never figured that one out....ghost, I guess. LOL I enjoyed your poem.

LOL what a jolly poem, This speaks of me as a child, looking in the wardrobe for boogie men, at 11 I used to watch horror movies then look under the bed before going to sleep just to be sure the boogie man was not there or vampires LOL, God bless from diane
