The Blue World
We are surrounded by the beauty of this world in which we live,
which asks nothing of us - existing purely just to give.
A lonely blue planet set aside from all the rest,
which has to be absolutely, exquisitely the best.
A complex ecosystem only god could replicate,
to house a billion species which it must facilitate.
It’s majestically, enchantingly, hauntingly diverse,
a blessing in the main, but equally a curse.
Everything is finely balanced from sunset 'til sunrise,
where each day delivers something of a heavenly surprise.
A butterfly in spring, an icicle through cold,
so much natural beauty we constantly behold.
In fall, the coloured leaves systematically changing,
on a modifying landscape, forever rearranging.
We can only stop and count the simple blessings of our life,
and forget the trivial things which cause unwanted strife.
