The bloom before the fall
As she drinks nectar from a flower, sweetness from heaven falls like dew
Anointed with a gentle rain amidst sun showers she appears as if on cue
Lifting her wings she lands on a Zinnia beneath a tinted sky of April blue
Flight of fancy fanning fast, fabulous marvel, she is beauty true on true
But beauty cannot shield a soul bruised by goodbye,
For even the loveliest wings can’t teach a heart to fly.
He kissed her in spring, with hands laced in flame,
Then left her in silence, forgetting her name.
The garden remembers the lies he told,
Each petal a secret, each stem growing cold.
She sips the nectar now bitter with regret,
A trace of the love she cannot forget.
Her wings beat slower in the dying light,
Hope bleeding out with the fall of night.
A fairytale wilted, a dream turned to dust—
She blooms with pain, in sorrow and rust.
