The Black Widow

Dark and lean she spins her web preparing for her prey. Intelligent and diligent she works both night and day. She is by no means evil, for this is all she knows. A genetic trait passed down to her and so the story goes. When her work is done she will prepare for her scheme. To lure her helpless victim in her well constructed gleam. A tattoo on her stomach, he stops and steals a glance. Her beauty and her mind combined, he doesn't stand a chance. He goes in for a closer look not knowing what he'll find She has her victim now and when they're done he's confined. He never knew what hit him for she won't suffer him his pride. Her mission is accomplished, and her legacy's inside.

I find spiders a source of inspiration, but so do you! One could take this at face value, or else give it added value by treating it as a metaphor. Both work for me. ~ Regards // paul

Very well done! Reminds me of the true crime shows I watch where the wife kills off her husband. Very visual, and I liked the little twist of a tatoo on her stomach, like the hourglass design on the spider's abdomen. Congrats on having this one featured

Congrats on this selection. We have lots of daddy long legs. I have to rescue them from the shower once in awhile. They definitely don't like to get wet. Love, daver

Congratulations on being featured this week and though I am SO afraid of spiders, they are HARD workers and this was a beautiful couplet, you tell their story perfectly....Aleera
