The Birth of Santa Claus

THE BIRTH OF SANTA CLAUS
Jerusalem! Your time is near
you've seen the bright and shining star
and just as soon as you will hear
His peace will be right where you are
but while you struggle with His word
the joy He speaks still goes unheard!

You've known the truth that God was borned
into this very life we feel;
yea! all the prophets had forewarned
the Word was God, and flesh and real!
but in His birth you've put the lie
you've layed upon the world--but why?

The world it prospers in His ways!
while you would lay your brothers deep
beneath the waste of nights and days
you make right where your children sleep!
And troubled are the dreams you know
          Jerusalem! You must let go!

The past must be forgotton now
and recognized, the truth of it!
Jesus is Lord! We must learn how
and praise His name for love of it!
          Lest we, Jerusalem must pay
for what we've done to Christmas Day!
