The Birth of Christ

The Birth of Christ
By Franklin Price

The birth of Christ on Christmas day
Is what we celebrate
It still is something special
Not just any other date

Although we're empty nesters
Home and tree we decorate
Together with my lovely wife
Who is my lifelong mate

We gift our little family
Communicate with friends
See what new is happening
With Christmas giving trends

Even if we're not in church
Before the season ends
We thank God for his only son
And make our year's amends

For what we have we're grateful
For all we thank the Lord
He's not at fault for what we have
We have what we can afford

Could have worked a little harder
Given others somewhat less
Like the reflection in the mirror
More than pleased I must confess

Be satisfied with what you have
Work honestly for more
Give to others when you can
While never keeping score

May your life be always happy
May your health be always good
May you thank the Lord at Christmas
If you do not I think you should
