The Birth of a Mother

Inside the darkness of womb, like a closed bud, yet to bloom. Buried deep in a watery tomb, my life pulsed, I knew no gloom. My comfort zone, my cozy home... love flowed freely...like a cloud I roamed. Curled up nine months in my kingdom of care, those moments of share, so precious...so rare... And then!!... "Oh my God"! In a sudden,...they cut the umbilical cord! I was afraid...cried aloud for aid... A gleam of light I found all around. I no longer felt safe and sound. And then!! A stranger unknown... to her I was shown. She was so much my own.. My lifeline... she was mine. Screaming in labor pain, Still calm she had to remain. To bring me up...she knew, She could never again complain. That day "we" were born together.. That day,.. I gave birth to my mother. A poem of great emotion and great ending lines... a brilliant first post on poetry soup.. This was not really a contest, it was an opportunity to showcase your first poem and I am glad you entered. Thank you.

i like this perspective very much. This piece is very far from N/A. I have many pieces that I feel are among my best that have received N/A. It is a small thing for the contest allowed me to birth these poems. I for one am pleased to read and appreciate this Gem. I grant you first place!

Oh Debjani, the sensitivity within which this was written is profoundly beautiful. It is very true about the connection that happens at birth, that bonding we feel from conception that grows for nine months and blossoms into mutual love. I don't understand how this poem could receive N/A's. A fave from me my friend! Congratulations on your deserving First Placement in Luloo's contest. xxoo
