The Big a Word

As kids this was just but the big "A" word The known that was unspoken Because it was a powerful a word A word that when said would awaken, stir emotions It was the dark age where little was known of it And the less we talked of it the harder it was to understand That's why it crippled us just the thought of it And the many pervations and reserves we had to stand But then came strong hero's out in the open Talking about their status not being afraid It took much for them to be open But through them the conversation started, much was said Some were receptive about it but some put up walls But that was the start of a new front Of people who were willing to over walls And face to face with fear, rejection and segregation they fought So to our hero's who have the big "A" word As we mark this day as we always have every year We do so to put round the word That there's much to life to look forward to, so don't shed a tear The PO£T
