The Better Half

Of what was lost, I shall not speak
A beautiful past I shall not seek
For I have grown, like you had asked
Followed through with every task

I shall not heed to a memory’s call
I shall not feel, lest I slip and fall
For I have forgotten as you had asked
And followed through with every task

I shall not question who I’ve become
I shall surrender and not try to run
For I have changed as you had asked
And followed through with every task

Now I am strong, as you describe
And I am happy, you claim with pride
Now I am perfect for you to own
I am one of you, I’m not alone

Now I shall not try to look inside
I shall not yearn, nor laugh nor cry
For I have died as you had asked
And followed through with every task
