The Betrayal
THE BETRAYAL
When on me it gravely deemed
That against God I had sinned
My heart wept and it bled
But my face did otherwise
For as I tried to match the two
There came a tingle and I smiled.
Oh sweet smile, why betray me so?
Why comest thou at a time so wrong?
Is it not meat that joy succeeds sorrow?
Why without patience did thou come before the gong
And make the sorry take after a hypocrite?
My heart is glad for God is God and not man
For He sees the heart and not the face
So my heart be consoled in this,
That God heard your cry
Even when you smiled.
