The Best Things
I love the best things in life,
My dog, my children, my wife,
The garden, my chickens, a beautiful flower,
A cool breeze, a sunset, an early morning hour.
A joke, a laugh, time with a friend,
A visit, memories, remembering when,
We had so much fun,
With my family, my friends, my daughter, my sons.
The best things cannot be bought,
It is love for one another as the good book taught,
Simple pleasures, grand things and the very small,
Are not really things at all.
But it is the time we spend,
With our loves, our God and our friends,
The best things are not really things at all,
But the love we share between us all.
