The Best of Us

A strain of breed
Which I find best
Humbly accepts
When put to the test

Never asking for more time
Nor any provisions
Special privileges
Nor any conditions

For this breed to serve
Is always an honor
The chance to be wise
Proper and stronger

To face the storm
With a deep hearty laugh
Knowing full well
It could tear you in half

So raise your sails
And leave safe land
For glory and triumph
Be yours to command
