The Best I Can

I've often asked myself who I am?
Am I someone you can trust?
Am I fair to all I see?
Are all my judgements just?

Am I someone you can count on?
Am I good at being a friend?
Do I always keep my word
On one you can depend?

Am I one who's always faithful
Or one who shows compassion?
Am I living for the future
Or just considered old-fashioned?

Will I lend a helping hand
To a stranger who needs a lift?
If I have a special skill
Will I freely share my gift?

I want to be all these things
But very seldom am
Lord, help me be, what you want me to
And do, the best I can
