The Best Gift

THE BEST GIFT B is for Bethlehem, the city there so small, E is for Emanuel, the God who’s with us all. S is for Savior, announced from hosts on high, T is for the time fulfilled for Him to come and die. G is for the God who loved and sent Him from above, I is for the inn that had no room to share His love. F is for forgiveness that He came to offer you, T is for today, my friend, to take this gift so true. The best gift of this Christmas time is not a package bright, The brightest thing that you can see is not a Christmas light. The greatest person you can know is not named Santa Claus, His name is Jesus and He came to die upon a cross. And that is what this time is for and why we sing this song: We want to introduce Him to you so to Him you can belong. Just like you open packages, receiving gifts from men, You can receive salvation and fore’er belong to Him. Make Him the best gift of your life today and all year through, And you will know His marvelous grace and see all that He can do. Written for the Christmas cantata at Heritage Baptist Church, December, 1998.
