The Beauty of Children

They play amidst the daffodils
Against the quiet of the day
Sunlit meadows where dew has kissed
Is the world in which they play
No fears to ever bring them pain
As sunshine warms their brow
If only we could keep them young
And keep them here, as now
Alas, they grow, like flowers strong
With beauty in abundance
But, like the sun, they too will shine
With a never ending brilliance

My wee ones aren't so wee anymore but I reading this takes me back to the times of picnics in the sunshine in the meadows. Thanks for the memories. Laurie

Beautiful, sweet piece of work, here, Michael. You've captured so much in just a few lines. There have definitely been moments when I wished time could stand still, and my children could stay small. As it is now, I wish my eleven year old daughter could skip to another dimension for awhile. Argh! Hugs, Donna G.
