The Beast Within
We all carry a beast that’s enraged to be set free,
Kicking and clawing, untamed and unwilling to see.
We must keep it leashed, harnessed and tied,
Never to let it see the light of day, it’s for our good it must hide.
When anger starts to swell and your jaws begin to clinch,
It’s time to cool off, take a seat on that bench.
That’s when it rears its ugly head trying to control,
It’s a beast with no feelings, a beast with no soul.
But it cannot emerge if you keep it deep with inside,
We have the final say, but it refuses to be denied.
Have you ever heard someone say I don’t know what came over me today?
Could have been then they let that beast have its way.
No feelings will it show, it’s only pain it wishes to inflict,
That is why it needs no mercy, its punishment so strict.
A seed passed down from Cain that we must battle all the while,
A seed so full of hatred one so disgusting and vile.
Our only true ally is our Savior up above,
We must fill our heart with kindness, arm ourselves with love.
Show the beast who’s master, forbid his kind of thought,
Don’t let him take control or else your life’s been for nought.
