The Battle In My Mind

THE BATTLE IN MY MIND The battle in my mind began so many years ago, And how it started I can say I don’t exactly know. It has involved experiences and people whom I knew Who loved to get me so involved in things I should not do. It has involved remarks that some had often to me said, Now many years have passed me by and all of that I dread. But there are also forces there within that battle now Who give me their encouragement that I can win somehow. The battle, then, is not with flesh nor blood the Bible says, It’s with the powers of darkness who would love to spoil my days. It’s time to put the armor on! The belt, the breastplate, too, The feet now shod, the shield of faith, the sword of Spirit true, The helmet of salvation for protection of my mind! And praying always to the Lord, His peace I there can find! Yes, no one says the battle will be easily fought or won, But victory will come to me if I trust in God’s Son! Yes, many years of life I’ve lived and too often I will find I find myself defeated in the battle in my mind. God’s great compassion tells me then He understands and cares And will when I am faced with them that He can meet me there. I just need out to reach to HIM and claim the victory That overcomes the world and thoughts that often bother me. The victory is there for me, in Him may now it find When all these enemies will try to win the battle of my mind.
