The Back of the Bus

The two of us
Sitting in the back
Of the big blue charter bus
Backs together
Her facing the isle
I facing the weather
My bare toes
On the cold window
Outside the water flows
Her socked feet
Are dangling over
The arm-rest of the seat
Split between us
Are my pink i-pod headfones
We sit in the back of the big blue bus
Having fun as we ride
In the back of the bus
Side-by-side
Jammin' out to tunes
Talkin' 'bout cartoons
Secretely eating icecream with plastic spoons
The two of us
Sitting in the back
Of the big blue charter bus

How delightful to have a friend who helps lift your spirits and shares music on "the big blue charter bus." Very nice poem, Alli! Love, Carolyn
