The Awakening
She woke up this morning
Her stomach churning
Her sleep filled with scorning
Her nightmares madly burning
She felt like time was in a deep freeze
No longer could she feel her soul
A threatening force had come to seize
And made her body a lump of coal
Was this to be her destiny?
To live a life so incomplete
She panicked-Where’s the rest of me
So I can exist without defeat?!
This combination of sadness and despair
Knocked her right out of her trance
She clasped her hands and said a prayer
To once again be able to dance
She began right away to dispel the acrimony
That tried to ravage her existence without shame
Now comes the culmination of this menacing phony
Who thought her soul was his to claim!
It felt as though it were a nightmare
She had been living through each day
For so long her heart had been stripped bare
Her resolve slowly wearing away
She packed her bags and said goodbye
To the life which held her contained
Like a star her brilliance will multiply
Salvation and courage have been regained!
