The Art of Surrendering
Why did you let go of someone you love,
They ask with such concern.
"But how can I hold onto someone,
Who no longer wants to return?"
Why didn't you fight when they ghosted,
Why not go and find them too?
"But why should I try to catch someone,
Who wants to stay away from my view?"
Why didn't you cry when you were hurt,
Don't you think that you should let it out?
"How can I cry and then feel alive,
When I know it will only bring me doubt?"
Why are you so quiet after all that happened,
Don't you want to speak your mind?
" How can I be heard after hiding,
Behind walls that took so long to unwind?"
(NOTE: It's not about giving up or losing the fight,
It's not about being weak or numb.
It's about letting go and moving on,
From what binds us to what makes us run.
It's time to start anew.
You've found yourself, it's true.)
