The Anointing

THE ANOINTING I came for the anointing, God’s power began to feel As I came there believing that He could really heal. It wasn’t in the oil, it wasn’t in the man, It was in the obedience to God’s true, simple plan. He said if sickness lingered, then for the elders call And pray the prayer of faith then and God would heal them all. The prayer of faith’s the answer, believing in His power To touch me and to heal me within that very hour. The healing may be gradual, and it may take some time, But I am going to claim it as though it now is mine. And if I need God’s working in doctor’s hands of skill, I’ll seek it and apply it according to God’s will. For now I know He’ll heal me because in faith I came And followed His commandment and called upon His name. He is the Great Physician; He heals with just a touch, And through obedient servants He can do very much. A man I know and trusted anointed me one day And prayed to God in heaven to take this now away. But though he was obedient to do what God commands, I know I’ll get my healing through Jesus’ mighty hands. So I came for anointing, not understanding how, But somehow greatly sensing the time for me was now. I felt a gentle presence of God there in it all As I raised my hand toward heaven and to Him I did call. And now I’ll watch the healing, believing it is mine And knowing that the healing was His healing so Divine.
