The Altar Weeps

      A marriage ends
      The altar weeps
         her bitter tears

      Fondly she remembers
         better years

People often don't plan their lives together. They are drifting from the start. I really like how well you describe it, as well as the enduring grief.

Reminds of the old love ballad, "Moon River:" "... Two drifters, off to see the world; there's such a lot of world to see..." ~ gw
