The Act

you just look up and she's gone
like she was never planning to hold on
Now were wide awake from a dream
And theres a constant waking thunder
of what ever swept her off her feet

Then another day
I can see us run
Staring at the sun
the world was our secret
and it was ours
our story to come undone
Then the ground
I feel it shake
I feel you fall
No, I feel you torn away from me
but that was never how it happened at all
Both sun and rain were coming down
At least we wanted to think
even our intentions were going wrong
and just like lightning without thunder
you never woulda seen it come
and the show had just begun

I can see your lies
through your smile
through your desperate silent thunder
you dont need to talk
Yuo dont even need to open your mouth
and this facade is getting old
we'll pretend we're being friends and play our role
like it was the greatest story every told

So, take a bow collect your flowers
does it ever make you wonder
why we never mentioned
what we were always pointing out
The show is done
The crowd is gone
Now we'll go our separate ways
and make it look as easy as paper being torn
Enough with the act they all know
Let's not pretend it's not the end
we could see it coming with our eyes closed
